How Monmouth Arrests Work
An arrest in Monmouth begins with the city police. Officers write the report and may list the event in a weekly log. Someone taken to Warren County Jail then enters a second system. The sheriff's booking file is the county record. It can hold an intake time, a booking number, charge details, bond status, and a booking photo when one is releasable. The two files connect. They are not interchangeable.
Monmouth is the Warren County seat. The 2020 Census counted 8,902 residents. The current police page names Chief Joe Switzer and 19 full-time officers, along with police non-emergency, Crime Stoppers, fax, and sheriff contacts. Other agencies can arrest within the city too. So the agency name on a report points to where the record lives.
Monmouth Police Log Timing
Monmouth posts arrests on a set clock. The official Monmouth Police arrest-log page covers one-week periods and updates each Tuesday. That is the clearest schedule in Warren County. It is not a live jail roster. Nobody arrested Friday should expect a same-day listing. An arrest made after a report closes waits for the next update.
One sample PDF ran April 18 through April 25, 2023. Its text showed a generation time of April 25. A single file explains the format, though. It cannot promise that later reports post at the same hour, and it offers no full archive, no photographs, and no release status.
The weekly rhythm also splits two questions. A Tuesday report may describe a week that ended after the person left the jail. An event can also be too new. Search by incident date and read the range printed on the report. Treat it as a police activity record. For current custody, call the jail or use VINE where the record is eligible.
For a same-day answer, the county has no public booking feed. Call the jail instead. The Arrested Today page explains that narrow window without relabeling Monmouth's weekly document.
Where Monmouth Arrest Records Appear
Go to the office that owns the fact. News and aggregator pages can hint at a date or an agency. Only the police or jail record settles the custody question.
| Channel | What it covers | Photo | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monmouth Police log | Weekly city arrest activity | Not promised | Official police log page |
| Warren County Jail | Current county custody and booking questions | Request if taken and releasable | Call 309-734-8505 |
| Police or sheriff FOIA | Reports, intake records, and releasable photos | Case-specific review | Written request |
| Circuit Clerk or Judici | Filed case, hearings, and disposition | No booking gallery | Clerk or online case search |
| Local news | Selected incidents and agency statements | Varies by story | Secondary, verify officially |
Warren County publishes no online jail roster. There is no public results table either, and no posted booking-photo policy. The jail's page stays informational. A name that turns up nowhere online says little, since the person may be released, transferred, held elsewhere, or closed off by law.
Find Someone Arrested in Monmouth
Split the search into three checks. Use the arresting agency, the event date, and the custody state, so a dated police log never stands in for a live jail list.
- Search the Monmouth Police weekly log by the likely week. Record the exact name, arrest date, agency, and any report number shown.
- Call Warren County Jail at 309-734-8505 for a current county-custody question. Ask whether the person was booked, released, or transferred.
- Use Illinois VINE for an eligible custody or court-status search and alerts. A no-result response is not proof that no arrest occurred.
- Send a written city FOIA request for the Monmouth police report. Request the county intake record separately when Warren County holds it.
- Check the Warren County Circuit Clerk or Judici for the filed case and disposition after the initial charge moves into court.
"Booking" is the jail intake step. "Disposition" is the court's outcome. Those dates and labels can differ from the time and charge in the first police report, and county custody differs from an IDOC sentence, federal custody, or immigration detention.
Request Monmouth Police Reports
A Monmouth request works best when precise. Give the full name, date range, location, and arresting agency. Name the exact records wanted. Say if copies or electronic review is preferred. The city FOIA overview requires written requests and generally follows a five-day framework, subject to lawful extensions.
Fees are modest. The first 50 black-and-white pages cost nothing. After that, black-and-white pages run 15 cents each and color pages 30 cents. A DVD costs $1. A CD runs 75 cents. Confirm the current FOIA officer and address on the live city page, and route booking sheets or jail photos through a separate Warren County Sheriff FOIA request because MPD may not hold the intake image.
500 South Main Street
Monmouth, IL 61462
Non-emergency: 309-734-8383
Fax: 309-734-7934
Keep the request narrow so staff can find the file. If the public log gives a name and date but no report number, quote those details and ask the FOIA officer to match the record. A denial or partial response should cite a legal basis. Keep your copy anyway. The request and reply show which office searched. They also show which record categories were reviewed.
Monmouth Mugshots Need Verification
Booking photos are not guaranteed here. Neither the city arrest log nor Warren County's public jail page posts a booking photograph. A police image tied to an incident can differ from the county intake photo. Ask the agency holding it. That office can apply Illinois disclosure rules, juvenile protections, sealing orders, and other lawful redactions. The county-wide record and photo paths are mapped in the Warren County mugshots section.
Mugshots.com lists a single Warren County page. It is an unofficial historical aggregator, not a Monmouth custody source. Other big state indexes carry no confirmed Warren County section either. Need a solid answer on any arrest? Call MPD, the jail, the sheriff, or the court.
The Prairie Communications report is one sample of local event coverage. It shows attribution at the court stage.
The story is news context, not a live roster.
Monmouth News Source Limits
Prairie Communications publishes selected Monmouth police and sheriff stories. Much of it builds on agency statements. A posting date is not a booking time, and a story cannot prove current custody. The Daily Review Atlas archive adds another Monmouth and Warren County news path, though access may take a subscription or library route and photo coverage varies.
Monmouth's Most Wanted page shows no current names. It is not a broad warrant database. Crime Stoppers takes tips. It cannot confirm custody. For any named person, go back to the arresting agency, the jail, and the court file instead of trusting an old article or an empty list.
A court check helps once charges are filed. Warren County's Circuit Clerk takes criminal-record search requests with a full name and date of birth. Judici offers the online case path. A docket can show hearings, later charge wording, and disposition. Still, it is not the police report or the jail booking sheet. Match names and dates with care. That keeps two people or two events from blurring together.
